BEING A BEGINNER IS THE BEST YOU COULD BE

By A. Vrillon

“The secret to success is to start from scratch and keep on scratching.”– Dennis Green

Last week I took a mentoring in New York City with my coworkers. It was my first best mentoring ever since the latter. It was brilliant, fantastic and unique. To all of this, I must say, I was a beginner and I loved it.

The world needs more beginners and I think that it’s time to take some actions to follow!

So I want to asked you, my friend, when was the last time you did something for the first time? For most of us, we find it hard to accept that it is difficult to do something new, just for the fact that sometimes we are afraid of knowing what will happen if you do it or not.

Also, I must say that we default to what’s comfortable. But where’s the fun in that? If you don’t try, you’ll never know. I asked this question to myself in the moment that I decided to leave everything behind and start a new journey and a new experience that would open many doors of opportunities for a better future.

Now I propose we put an end to it, and we all be commit to being new at something. With 2020 on top of us, the timing’s perfect, don’t you think so?

Another fact that concerns many of us is being the first and always wanting to be the best.

Well…It’s ok to not be always the best at something.

In my experience, there’s a huge power in being a beginner, because it:

  • Keeps you humble.
  • Gets you out of your comfort zone.
  • Connects you with people on a new level – gives you a window into a new mindset.
  • Gives you a chance to find something that lights your passion on fire.

So why are we so scared to be beginners?

You and all of us have the things we’re good at, either we’ve done them for years. We tend to spend the majority of our time on these things, but what happens when you get relatively good at a job you hate? It’s easy, you’re comfortable! And as a result you never take the plunge to experience the real juice of your full potential.

This fear of being a beginner can keep us from many aspects in life. It can keep us from our dreams, it can keep us pounding our keyboard when we have an idea and it can keep us on the couch of your house while at the same time we just want to run across town.

Dreams start at the beginning

Something that you should know  before experimenting being a beginner is that the start is never glamorous. You’ll doubt yourself, you’ll try to rationalize why you should put it off. That’s why most dreams stay as dreams. The fear at the beginning is huge.

Really, when I decided to change my lifestyle and start chasing my dreams, the fear ran through my veins, but at the same time something very internal on me was telling me “do it”, like a little voice whispering your ears, and it was like that until I managed to take the first step.

This first step is the most important of even the most epic journeys and experiences, without it, not a damn thing will happen.

Once you start, amazing things begin to occur. Believe me, I was not used to sleep on inflatable airbeds, and you know what? when I was a beginner, there’s where I slept. Anyways, it didn’t matter at all because my dreams and goals were bigger than anything else, so I was willing to adapt to change and take this seriously from the beginning. The momentum is a powerful thing, my readers. But something strong must first be moving to harness it.

Every new beginning reminds you why it is so crucial to keep trying. If you have dreams of doing great things, or doing anything at all, now is time to being a beginner. As an entrepreneur, I’ve already embraced it. I’ve learned to thrive off of the uncertainty and I’m still learning every single day.

Get over the fear of not knowing how to do something or failing or being new. That’s all going to happen anyway. Without those “risks”, magnificent things can’t happen.

As Albert Einstein said: “If you never try anything, you’ll never experience greatness”.

The world needs more beginners!
